Associate Professor Xie Yuan attended the 2022 Annual meeting of the Shaanxi Biochemical Society and the new session of the Board of Governors

    On April 8, 2023, the "Shaanxi Biochemical Society 2022 Annual Conference and Council Change Meeting" co-sponsored by Shaanxi Biochemical and Molecular Biology Society and Air Force Medical University was successfully held in the Science Hall of Air Force Medical University. This meeting was postponed due to the epidemic. More than 100 scholars from universities and research institutes in Shaanxi Province attended the meeting.

        In the lecture, Associate Professor Xie Yuan took the blood-brain barrier and Its Significance in the treatment of glioma as the title, took the research status of glioma as the entry point, combined with the ongoing scientific research work completed in the group, elaborated on the characteristics of glioma, common obstacles in treatment and corresponding mechanisms, and introduced the corresponding research routes in detail. She pointed out that the core problem of glioma treatment is the blood-brain barrier and its main component, endothelial cells heterogeneity. Blood-brain barrier is one of the main factors limiting the effectiveness of glioma treatment, and its blocking effect on drug preparation will have a significant impact on the delivery efficiency of anti-tumor drugs. The phenotype of endothelial cells is one of the important factors in the development of glioma. Previous work by our research team also confirmed this conjecture. In previous work, our team used single-cell RNA sequencing to study cells derived from glioma patients, dividing endothelial cells into five distinct subgroups and confirming that the phenotype of endothelial cells in gliomas is closely related to the condition of the blood-brain barrier. Later, she described the Wnt pathway, a key pathway that regulates the formation and function of BBB: Inhibition of Wnt pathway can improve the delivery efficiency of chemotherapy drugs, thereby improving the survival rate of tumor-bearing mice, and confirming the position of Wnt as an important target. The above findings and subsequent studies provide very valuable information for drug delivery in glioma and treatment of glioma, which may provide great help for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up research of glioma.
